October 2011 - On Wednesday, I went to a dedication of a renovated permanent housing facility for people who have struggled with homelessness. Our Urban Planning Office, that does so much to provide low-income housing to people, has partnered with the Pine Street Inn, a local shelter for the homeless, in acquiring some property and refurbishing it.

October 2011 - The past controversy of the 40 Upton St. project took a backseat Wednesday afternoon, as those involved with the project thanked each other and supporters at a dedication ceremony at the Pine Street Inn.

October 2011 - The state's comprehensive permit law, the subject of heated controversies over the years and a failed repeal effort last year, drew widespread support at a hearing yesterday from groups that say affordable housing remains a big problem in Massachusetts.
