Cardinal, Lt. Governor break ground on Hanover affordable housing

October 2017 - Cardinal Seán P. O'Malley was joined by Lt. Governor Karyn Polito, Lisa Alberghini, President of the Planning Office for Urban Affairs of the Archdiocese, MassHousing Executive Director Tim Sullivan and Dori Conlon of Bank of America, for the Oct. 23 Groundbreaking of Bethany Apartments, the conversion of a former dormitory building at the Cardinal Cushing Centers in Hanover into 37-units of housing.

Service clubs enhance Harbor Place project

October 2017 - Three Haverhill service clubs enhanced the new Harbor Place project by installing an American flag and flagpole, creating a flower garden and installing bronze plaques recognizing five distinguished citizens. Last week, the Haverhill Exchange, Kiwanis, and Rotary clubs unveiled their contributions to Harbor Place, a transformative project that is a partnership of the Greater Haverhill Foundation and the Planning Office for Urban Affairs, which hosted the dedication.

October 2017 - From there I went to the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Bethany Apartments at The Cardinal Cushing Centers in Hanover. This new development by our Planning Office for Urban Affairs will provide more than 35 residences for low- and middle-income people in the area.

Church creates an oasis for families with a dream

October 2017 - Some 25 miles south of Boston, just below a chapel in Hanover where the remains of Richard Cardinal Cushing are interred, his successor, Cardinal Sean O’Malley led a contingent of developers, bankers, town officials and Lieutenant Gov. Karyn Polito in celebrating the transformation of a former school dormitory into 37 units of adaptive and affordable apartments.

Students settling in at new Haverhill campus of UMass Lowell

October 2017 - The first UMass Lowell satellite campus opened in Haverhill several weeks ago and about 75 students already are enrolled in night classes. Two classrooms along with a study area partially fill the second floor of Harbor Place. An additional two classrooms are planned and school officials say that in the future they expect to serve about 200 students.
