POUA & St. Francis House Break Ground at 41 LaGrange Street

Amid an ongoing affordable housing shortage in Boston, POUA and St. Francis House celebrated the groundbreaking of a new 19-story residential tower in downtown Boston. The new building will provide much-needed permanent supportive housing for households coming out of homelessness in an integrated, mixed-income development in downtown Boston. 70 units will be set-aside as permanent supportive housing for those experiencing homelessness; the residents of these units will benefit from case management and supportive services provided by St. Francis House. The balance of the 56 units will be targeted to workforce and middle-income households, thereby creating an integrated and diverse community. Speakers at the groundbreaking included Karen LaFrazia, President and CEO of St. Francis House; Msgr. Bryan Hehir; Bill Grogan, President of the Planning Office for Urban Affairs; The Honorable Kim Driscoll, Lieutenant Governor; Sheila Dillon, Chief of Housing and Director of the Mayor’s Office of Housing; Ed Augustus, Secretary of the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities; Maurice Coleman, CDB Market Executive for Boston at Bank of America; Mark Teden, Vice President of Multifamily Programs at MassHousing; State Representative Aaron Michlewitz; State Senator Lydia Edwards; and City Councilor Ed Flynn. We're grateful to our development team, our City and State leaders, and our lenders for their partnership, and for celebrating the groundbreaking of this transformative project with us!
